MEXICALI BAKED BEANS | |
6 strips bacon 1/2 c. chopped green pepper 1/2 c. minced onion 1/2 lb. cooked ham, cut in slivers 2 lg. cans baked beans 1/2 c. catsup 1/4 c. brown sugar 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp. flavor enhancer, optional Cook bacon until crisp, drain all except 2 tablespoons bacon drippings. Add green pepper and onion; cook over low heat for 5 minutes. Combine ham with bacon bits, beans and remaining ingredients. Mix gently but completely and turn into baking dish for about 1 hour until beans are bubbly all the way through. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes before serving. Bake at 350 degrees. |
