NUNI'S THUMBPRINTS 
1/2 lb. butter (1 c.)
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp. cream or milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts (extra chopped pecans or walnuts for rolling
the dough balls)
1 or more egg whites

Cream butter; add sugar. Add egg yolk, cream, and vanilla; mix well. Add flour which has been sifted with baking powder to the chopped nuts. Form dough into small balls and dip into egg white and then chopped nuts. Make a small indentation in the center of the balls after placing them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Fill indentation with jelly or a nut or a cherry half. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Handle carefully when removing from baking sheet as these cookies are very fragile.
