1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Baker's semi sweet chocolate chips

Beat shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Blend in flour, soda and salt. Mix in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoon on a cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven only until bottom of cookie is very light brown. Cool.
