APPLE NUT BREAD 
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
4 c. peeled & diced apples
1 c. chopped walnuts
2 tsp. vanilla
Sugar & cinnamon

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Add gradually to egg mixture. Mix well. Add vanilla. Stir in the apples and nuts. Put in greased loaf pans (3 small) or (2 large); fill half full. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over the top. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour. (Lay baked bread on its side for 10 minutes to cool before removing from pans.)
