1/2 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2/3 c. nuts
2/3 c. hot water
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. sour whipping cream
Salt

Cream shortening, vanilla and sugar. Add eggs. Blend hot water and cocoa. Sift flour, soda and salt and add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream and cocoa mixture. Pour in greased layer pans.
