CARAMEL BROWNIE BARS 
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix with pudding
1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
3/4 c. butter
1 lg. can (1/2 and 1/2) evaporated milk
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. fine walnuts

Use double boiler. Melt caramels in 1/2 cup evaporated milk over low heat (keep hot). Melt 3/4 cup butter in a 2-quart pan and stir in cake mix and nuts and 1/2 cup evaporated milk (dough).

Grease 9 x 13 pan and press in 1/2 of dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot dough. Spread melted caramels gently over chips. Sprinkle bits of remaining 1/2 of dough over all. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool slightly and refrigerate.
