JOHNNY CAKE | |
7/8 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 sm. tbsp. lard or butter 1 c. butter (with 1 tsp. baking soda stirred in) Pinch of salt 1 c. flour 1 c. cornmeal Sift together flour and cornmeal. Mix all ingredients. Bake in greased and floured 9x12 or 13 inch cake pan 25 or 20 minutes, depending on oven at 375 degrees. Use in place of bread, and best eaten hot with butter. |
