LEISHA'S TURNIP BREAD (FOR BREAD MACHINE) | |
2 tsp. active dry yeast 1 1/2 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp. water 2 tbsp. vegetable oil (or melted butter) 1/2 cup peeled, cooked and mashed turnips (normally takes just 1) 1 tbsp. non-fat dry milk powder (I use coffee creamer if no milk powder available) Put all ingredients into the bread machine or follow your users manual. Select correct bread cycle and light or medium crust color and then press start. This bread keeps well and is good for toasting or serving with sliced roasted meats with gravy. Can also freeze for up to 3 months. Variation: May use mashed potatoes or cooked carrots in place of turnips. Submitted by: Leisha N. (Rollie) |
