APPLE CRISP
FILLING:

4 or 5 pared, cored & sliced apples
1/3 - 1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. water
3/4 tsp. cinnamon

TOPPING:

1/3 c. butter, softened
1/8 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. flour
1/2 c. oatmeal
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped nuts (I prefer walnuts)

FILLING: Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon and water. Add more sugar to taste depending on the tartness of the apples. More cinnamon may be added to suit your taste. Add more water if the apples start getting too dry before they are tender. It should look like pie filling from a can when through. Pour into an 8"x8"x2" baking dish (ungreased).

TOPPING: Use a pastry blender or fork to get the above topping ingredients into a crumbly mixture. Add nuts. Sprinkle topping over apples. Bake at 350 degrees until the topping is slightly brown.
