CRUNCHY BANANA BREAD 
1/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 c. bran flake cereal
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. chopped nuts
2 c. mashed bananas
2 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar; beat in egg. Stir in bran flakes. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda; stir in bran flake mixture. Combine bananas and water; stir in vanilla. Stir into flour mixture. Stir in nuts. Bake in greased loaf pan at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
