2 c. baking soda
1 1/4 c. water
1 c. cornstarch

Mix cornstarch and soda, then add water and mix thoroughly. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Thicken to consistency of mashed potatoes. Let it cool just enough to handle, then form into desired shapes. Unused portions will not keep long, but tightly covered will keep enough to make holiday decorations, etc. Let dry completely (at least 36 hours). Color with paint or felt tip markers or coat with shellac or clear nail polish. You can even make jewelry!
