2 c. sugar
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda (level)
2 tbsp. white Karo
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts

Mix sugar, butter and syrup in large pan. Add soda to buttermilk then to other ingredients. Cook until soft ball stage. Add vanilla, beat until beginning to set. Add nuts and pour out quickly into buttered dish.
