TANGY GREEN BEANS WITH APPLES | |
3 tbsp. fresh lemon juice 3 tbsp. brown sugar 2 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. cornstarch 4 whole cloves 1 med. red delicious apple, cored and diced 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 (16 oz.) can cut green beans, drained Combine lemon juice, sugar, butter, cornstarch, cloves, apples, and onion in saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until sauce comes to a boil. Cover; reduce heat. Simmer 6 to 8 minutes or until apple and onion are tender, stirring occasionally. Add beans; heat through. Sprinkle with toasted sliced almonds (optional). |
