FROSTED DATE BALLS 
1 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Combine flour and salt. Sift twice. Cream the butter and gradually add sugar. Add milk and vanilla, stir in the sifted flour. Blend in dates and nuts. Roll in 1-inch balls. Place about 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake about 20 minutes in a 300 degree oven. While still warm, roll in confectioners' sugar.

Makes 3 dozen cookies.
