CARAMEL NUT SLICES | |
1 c. soft shortening (2 sticks butter) 2 c. (1 lb. box) brown sugar 2 eggs 3 1/2 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. chopped pecans Cream shortening and sugar. Mix thoroughly with beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into other mixture. Blend in nuts. Form into 2 rolls. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill overnight. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Cut in slices about 1/8 inch thick. Place a little apart on ungreased baking sheet. bake 8 to 10 minutes. Watch carefully so as not to overcook or scorch. Makes about 12 dozen cookies. |
