MAMA'S LEMON MERINGUE PIE 
Vanilla wafers
butter
3 eggs
1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
1/2 c. fresh lemon juice (3 lemons)
1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
6 tbsp. sugar

CRUST: Vanilla wafers crushed up. Line 9-inch pie plate with whole vanilla wafers; pour 1/2 stick of melted butter on top of crust to firm up.

PIE MIXTURE: Separate 3 eggs (white from yellow) save egg whites for meringue later. Stir together egg yellow, Eagle Brand and lemon juice. Stir until mixed good and pour into crust.

MERINGUE: Whip 3 or 4 egg whites (4 makes the meringue higher, NEVER get any yellow part of the egg into the white - won't be as high), add vanilla flavoring, cream of tartar and sugar. Continue whipping until peaks form real good. Put meringue on top of pie. Brown pie slowly in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until brown.
