BREAD PUDDING | |
1 c. brown sugar 3 slices white bread with crust removed 3 eggs 2 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Dash of salt 1/4 c. raisins (optional) Put brown sugar in top of double boiler. Butter bread and cut into cubes, place these over brown sugar. Beat eggs until light. Add vanilla, salt and milk. Beat until mixed. Pour egg mixture over bread. If desired, sprinkle in raisins just before egg mixture. Cook in double boiler about 1 hour, covered, on top of stove. Do not stir while cooking. Do not let bottom of double boiler go dry. Serves 4-6. This was my Dad's specialty. Great way to use up stale bread. |
