GRANDMA SHIRLEY'S LITTLE
CHIPPERS
 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1/2 c. chopped California walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla until fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Drop from teaspoons 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Makes 3 dozen.
