1/2 cup shortening
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts (opt.)

Melt shortening and chocolate over low heat. Combine remaining ingredients in saucepan.

Turn into greased un-waxed 8 X 8" pan.

Bake at 325 Degrees for 25 min.
