OATMEAL CAKE 
1 c. rolled oats
1 1/2 c. hot apple juice
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. crushed cloves
1/2 c. raisins

Combine and let stand at least 20 minutes, oatmeal and hot apple juice. Cream together butter and sugars, then add vanilla and eggs. Mix thoroughly. Then add oat mixture. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir flour mixture into oatmeal mixture. Add raisins. Turn into greased and floured tube pan. Bake 1 hour and 5 minutes or until done at 350 degrees.

Orange juice may be substituted for apple juice. If so, omit cinnamon and add 1 tablespoon orange peel. Raisins may also be omitted or substituted for other dried fruit.
