CHOCOLATE SUGAR COOKIES 
Crispy, kids like with shapes and pink frosting.

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. light corn syrup
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 sqs. unsweetened chocolate, melted

(Or can be substituted with coco-butter equivalent found in cookbooks).

Cream shortening, sugar, egg. Stir in syrup and chocolate. Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture. Chill 1 hour. Roll 1/8 inch thick on well-floured pastry board, etc. Cut into shapes. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 350 degree oven 10-12 minutes. Frost and decorate, if desired.

For Christmas tree: Cut paper drinking straws into 1 inch lengths. Push one into each unbaked cookie - bake cookies. Remove straws, gently twisting them out while cookies are still warm.
