COLD SLAW 
2 qt. cabbage, cut coarse (2 1/2 heads)
2 carrots, shredded
2 green peppers, slivered or chopped
2 onions, chopped
2 or 3 stalks celery, chopped or sliced

Dressing:

1 c. vinegar
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. mustard seed (optional)

Bring to a boil (do not boil). Cool slightly. Pour over vegetables and mix well. Let stand 24 hours before serving.

Mustard seed makes a little hot.
