TOLL HOUSE COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. nuts
1 (7 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
2 c. oatmeal, uncooked
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 tsp. hot water

Sift flour once before measuring, then sift together with salt. Cream butter until soft. Add sugar gradually. Cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each one. Dissolve soda in hot water and add to creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients. Add nuts, chocolate chips, and oatmeal and mix thoroughly. Add vanilla and blend. Drop by 1/2 teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 9-10 minutes.
