CANNED APPLE FILLING 
4 c. sugar
1 c. cornstarch
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
10 c. water
3 tsp. lemon juice
7 qt. jars

In saucepan combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and water. Cook, stirring until thick. Add lemon juice. Fill hot, sterilized quart jars, dividing among them. Gently add sliced, peeled apples until jar is full. Put on hot lids and process 20 minutes in boiling water bath.

When preparing pie - simply make pie crust - add pie filling - dot with butter and cover with top crust, cutting slits for escape of steam; seal. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes or until done.
