SOUTHERN GAL BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
2/3 c. milk
1/2 c. shortening

Mix dry ingredients together, add shortening, mix until mealy, add milk and egg slowly, stir until stiff. Knead 5 times, pat out 1/2 inch. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.

This biscuit is amazing. Biscuit is SO soft. I kneaded as it said... but before cutting... I folded dough in half - "patted" it out... then cut. This creates layers as in fast food biscuits.

I did cut recipe in half. Made 4 biscuits one larger out of scraps (will use for sausage gravy tomorrow). My permanent biscuit recipe now.
