OLD - FASHIONED GINGERSNAPS 
3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
Additional sugar

In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Add egg and molasses; beat well. Sift together dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Chill the dough. Roll into 1 inch balls and dip into sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes or until set and surface cracks. Cool on wire racks. Yield: About 4 dozen.
