WILTED CABBAGE 
3 slices bacon
1/4 c. chopped onion
6 c. shredded cabbage (about 1 1/2 lb. head)
2 tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Cut bacon into small pieces and cook for 2 minutes in large skillet or heavy saucepan. Add onions and cook until they are lightly browned. Add cabbage, water, salt, sugar and pepper. Saute for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Do not overcook the cabbage, just wilt it. Add vinegar and toss well. Serve immediately.
