RED HOT APPLES 
1 1/2 c. water
1 1/2 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
Red food coloring
1/2 pkg. red hots
Apples

Heat together everything but apples until sugar is dissolved. Add peeled, cored and halved apples. Cook until apples are done. Remove apples and lay in 8 x 8-inch dish. Leave liquid in pan and boil until thick. Pour over apples. Refrigerate.
