ORIENTAL TREASURE COOKIES 
Cookie Dough:

1 2/3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. almond extract

Preheat oven to 350°F. Sift together flour, baking powder and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine the remaining cookie dough ingredients. Blend well. Shape into balls, using a rounded teaspoon for each.

Almond Topping:

1/2 c. slivered almonds
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. soy sauce

In a separate bowl, combine all ingredients for almond topping. Dip the top of each cookie into almond mixture. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes.

Makes 48 cookies.
