VEGETABLE BEEF SOUP 
1 cube beef bouillon
1 tbsp. dried leaf basil (or 1/2 tsp. ground basil)
1 can stewed tomatoes
1/2 onion, sliced
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/8 tsp. chili powder
2 bay leaves
1/2 c. diced celery
2 carrots, sliced
2 zucchini, sliced
1 potato, diced
1/2 lb. stew meat (or hamburger)
5 c. water

Brown meat. Season with salt and pepper. Place in crock pot. Add all other ingredients. Set on low, cook for 6 hours. Thicken broth if desired by adding a mixture of cornstarch and water. Serve with cornbread or biscuits and salad.
