BLONDE BROWNIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted plain flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
1/3 c. butter
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chocolate bits

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together, stir in nuts. Melt butter in saucepan; stir in sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla; add flour mixture. Mix well; spread batter into pan. Sprinkle chocolate bits over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool; cut into bars.
