1 lb. butter 3 1/3 c. sugar 10 large eggs 4 c. all-purpose flour (measured after sifting 1 time; sift again) 1 tsp. vanilla Grease well and flour a stem cake pan. Into bowl, put butter and sugar and cream thoroughly. Add flour and eggs alternately, beginning and ending with flour. Mix thoroughly after each addition. Add vanilla last of all. Pour batter into pan and start in a cold oven. Cook 1 hour at 325°F. Do not open oven door during that hour. If not quite golden brown at end of time, increase heat to 350°F and allow another 5 minutes or so. |
