GERWIG BLACKBERRY CAKE 
3 eggs, separated
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2/3 c. butter
1 tsp. each: cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg
1 1/2 c. blackberries, drained
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Into one bowl, mix together brown sugar, white sugar, egg yolks, butter, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Mix the blackberries, flour, baking powder, buttermilk, soda and vanilla. Add this mixture alternately with the buttermilk to the first mixture. Fold in beaten egg whites and bake 1 hour at 350°F in tube pan, greased and floured.
