SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 generous ham bone
2 c. split peas
1 c. grated carrot
2 c. diced celery
1 c. chopped onion
3/4 tsp. marjoram
3/4 tsp. rosemary
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
1 can beer
2 c. half and half
8 c. water

Simmer all ingredients except half and half for 4 hours. Remove ham bone. Stir in half and half and salt to taste.
