STREUSEL APPLE PIE 
PASTRY:

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter
1 egg
1/8 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
4 tbsp. ice cold water

Combine flour, brown sugar, salt, nutmeg and baking powder. Cut in butter with a pastry blender. Beat the egg, lemon juice and water, then sprinkle over the dry ingredients and mix until it forms a ball. Refrigerate 2 hours then roll out into a 9-inch pie shell. Place 4 cups of peeled and thinly sliced good pie apples in the shell and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.

CREAM CHEESE FILLING:

1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
2 eggs
2 tbsp. butter, softened
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened

Cream together the sugar, flour, eggs, butter and salt. Add lemon juice and softened cream cheese. Spoon over the apples. Mix the brown sugar, flour, soft butter and chopped nuts to form crumbs and sprinkle over the pie. Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes then reduce heat to 350°F and bake an additional 15 minutes more.

STREUSEL CRUMB TOPPING:

1/3 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Mix topping ingredients and spread on top of pie.
