2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts (walnuts)
1 c. chopped dates
1/3 c. chopped maraschino cherries
Extra cherries for tops
2 1/2 c. crushed corn flakes

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and add mixing well. Stir in nuts, dates, and cherries. Shape dough into balls, roll in crushed corn flake and top with 1/4 cherry. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. A family favorite at Christmas.
