OATMEAL PIE 
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 c. dark Karo syrup
1 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1 unbaked 9" pie shell

Cream butter and sugar. Add cinnamon, cloves and salt. Stir in syrup. Add eggs. Stir in oatmeal; mix well. Put in pie shell and sprinkle top with a few chopped nuts. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees about 1 hour or when knife comes out clean. During baking the oatmeal forms a chewy nutty crust on top. This is very delicious pie. I have baked it for many years.
