BEST EVER CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 c. milk
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour, baking soda and salt. Stir vinegar into milk and set aside. Cream shortening until soft, gradually add sugar creaming well after each addition; beat in eggs, one at a time. Blend in cocoa.

Sift in flour adding alternately with soured milk and blending each time until batter is smooth; stir in hot water and vanilla. Pour in three 8 inch layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Makes a 3 layer cake. Frost with your favorite icing.
