SCALLOPED POTATOES AU GRATIN
These will be a hit for everyone. I never have any leftovers!

potatoes
onion slices
Wondra flour
butter
salt and pepper
shredded Cheddar cheese
cream of mushroom soup
French onion chip dip

NOTE: Quantities are not specific in this recipe, so vary according to your own taste and feel free to improvise with what you have.

Slice potatoes and arrange in the bottom of an ovenproof casserole or baking dish. Top with onion slices, salt and pepper. Sprinkle with a thin layer of shredded Cheddar cheese.

In a saucepan, warm 1 can of cream of mushroom soup and mix with 1 pint of French onion chip dip. Pour the mixture over potatoes. If soup mixture becomes too thick, add some milk to thin it down.

Sprinkle Wondra flour over the top and add a couple of pats of butter.

Repeat the first step, adding layers until dish is full.

Bake at 350°F in oven for about 90 minutes or until golden brown.

Enjoy!

This is a great recipe. I also added parmesan cheese in layers. Did not use flour. It took 4 large potatoes to do the recipe. Thank you Jane.

So darn good! You can add different things such as chicken and or a vegetable to make it a full casserole.... Wonderful just the way the recipe says though

I enjoyed this meal as a kid and thought it was a long shot that my 3 kids would like it. Two of them loved it and one was thrilled, but ate it. My husband ate it as well, he doesn't like white sauces. I added a little onion powder and I liked it. I also added two boiled eggs chopped. Thanks for sharing!

I tried your recipe this afternoon and it was absolutely delicious. I think the French Onion Dip is what gives it that extra punch! Thanks Again!

What is Wondra flour?

 Cooks.com replies:
Hi Renee,

Wondra is a finely granulated flour from Gold Medal that mixes easily with liquids and has less of a tendency to lump, which is great for people just learning how to make lump-free gravies!
