3/4 c. softened butter 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed 1 egg yolk 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt 1 1/2 c. sifted flour Combine together softened butter, brown sugar, egg yolk, vanilla and salt. Stir in flour. Spread mixture in 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake in 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until nicely browned. Cool slightly. TOPPING: 2 tbsp. veg. shortening 1 (6 oz.) pkg.. butterscotch chips 1/4 c. light corn syrup 1 tbsp. water 1/4 tsp. salt Combine shortening, butterscotch chips, corn syrup, water and salt in a sauce pan. Heat and stir until sauce is smooth. Spread over top of slightly cooled dough. Sprinkle with slivered almonds. Allow topping to set cut into 48 (1 x 2 inch) sticks. |
