GRANNY LOWE'S EVERLASTING
BISCUITS
 
4 c. scalded milk
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. shortening
3 tsp. salt
1 cake yeast
1 c. mashed potatoes

Scald milk; add shortening, sugar, and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add soda, yeast, and mashed potatoes. Add enough flour to make sponge dough. Let rise until light, then add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Cover tightly and keep in refrigerator. Pinch off dough to make rolls. Let rise until very light. Bake in 400 degree oven about 15 minutes.
