CRACK COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 to 3 c. flour

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Mix all ingredients. Shape into little balls about size of quarter. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. Cookies will flatten as they bake. Do not flatten balls before placing in oven. Bake at 350 degrees until cookies have flattened and cracked on top. These cookies store well and are delicious with cold milk or coffee. A family favorite. 5 dozen.
