NO FUSS CAKE 
1/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 well beaten egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. dates or raisins, finely chopped

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar. Add egg; beat thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Stir in dates or raisins.

Fill greased cupcake pans half full. Bake in moderate 375 degree oven for 15 minutes. Makes 1 dozen cupcakes.
