1/2 c. light corn syrup
1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi sweet chocolate pieces
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. Cheerios cereal

Butter square pan 9 x 9 x 2 inches. In saucepan, heat syrup to boiling; remove from heat. Add chocolate pieces and vanilla, stirring until chocolate is melted. Add cereal; stir until well coated. Turn into pan; spread with buttered back of spoon. Cool 1 hour. Cut into squares. Yields 3 dozen.

Chocolate Nut Cereal Bars: Stir in 1 1/2 to 1 cup salted peanuts with the cereal.
