CHOCOLATE KRAUT CAKE 
2/3 c. butter
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
2 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. water
2/3 c. sauerkraut

Cream well the butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients, add alternately with water to egg mixture. Stir in kraut which has been rinsed in hot water, drained and chopped. Turn into two grease pans. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until cake tests done. Frost with chocolate icing.
