1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 egg
1/2 c. buttermilk or evaporated milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix ingredients in order given, chill. Roll out 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. This is a moist cookie. Frost.
