ELEPHANT EARS 
2 envelopes yeast
1 1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 c. flour
Salad oil
Confectioners sugar
6 tbsp. shortening

In pan combine milk, sugar, salt and shortening. Heat, but do not boil. Stir until shortening is melted. Remove from heat and cool. In a large bowl, combine yeast, flour, 2 cups at a time. Put in a large greased bowl. Let rise until double in size. In a deep fryer, heat salad oil (1 inch) to 350 degrees. Makes 25.
