HOMEMADE ICE CREAM CUSTARD 
2 1/4 c. sugar
6 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
5 c. scalded milk
6 eggs, beaten
4 c. cream or half and half
4 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, flour and salt. Slowly stir in hot milk. Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly until mixture is thickened. Mix small amount of hot mixture into beaten eggs. Add to hot mixture and cook 1 minute longer. Chill, add cream and vanilla. Put in cannister and add milk to fill line. Put in ice cream freezer, pack with ice and salt and run until hardened.
