Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookie recipe Approximately 1 qt. applesauce Approximately 1 qt. apple butter After rolling out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness, cut in large "cookies" (approximately 8 inches in diameter) and cook as directed. Recipe will make 7 to 9 "cookies" depending on size. On the day before you plan to serve, assemble as follows: Mix 2/3 applesauce with 1/3 apple butter. Put a "cookie" on the plate, cover with the fruit mixture, add another "cookie" etc. Do not put fruit mixture on top of "cookie." Store in the refrigerator overnight. May be frozen. Serving pieces may be topped with whipped cream. Refrigerate unused portions. |
