ALMOND COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs, save a little to brush top of cookies
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. almond extract
Almonds
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour

Mix shortening and other ingredients in order. Roll into 1 inch balls. Put 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Place an almond on top. Brush with leftover egg mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 17 minutes. Make 4 1/2 dozen.
